Our Story

Our founder, Joyce is a first-generation American with a deep commitment to uplift the immigrant community.

Having worked at an immigration law firm herself, she witnessed firsthand the inefficiencies and challenges plaguing the legal immigration system. The complex processes, overwhelming paperwork, and the sheer volume of cases left both lawyers and immigrants grappling with an antiquated system desperately in need of modernization.

Smart Attorney was born out of a belief that technology could bridge the gap between the complexities of immigration law and the aspirations of those seeking a better life in America.

The legal profession is struggling to keep pace with the rapid advancements in technology. As artificial intelligence is starting to transform industries, the legal world lags behind, burdened by archaic practices that hindered efficiency and accessibility.

The Challenge

Filing for immigration is time-consuming and requires hundreds of hours of analysis, evidence-collecting, research, and drafting. Furthermore, clients seeking immigration often requires language assistance. With over 70,000 deportation cases annually in the U.S., there are a shortage of lawyers who are able to help. The amount of work required makes immigration work extremely costly to the clients and law firms themselves. Deportation defense can cost over $15,000. Despite this, many immigration lawyers still find themselves undercharging for the amount of work they do.

This makes immigration inaccessible to many. Everyone deserves the chance to be heard.

Smart Attorney's Mission

There is an opportunity to harness the power of technology to streamline the immigration process, making it more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible to all. Smart Attorney's mission is to streamline the legal immigration process for lawyers, so that that everyone, regardless of their result, has the chance to be heard and defended.
